CEWIL Canada Contributes $168,000 in Scholarships to Veterinary Technology Students

July 30, 2026

Olds College of Agriculture & Technology is proud to announce funding through CEWIL Canada's iHUB grant for eligible Veterinary Technology Diploma students completing their 2026 summer and fall practicums. This project is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Innovative Work-Integrated Learning Initiative and CEWIL Canada’s iHUB.

Through CEWIL Canada's investment of $168,000, students in the program will be supported during their summer and fall 2026 practicums, helping reduce the financial pressures often associated with unpaid placements. This funding builds on Olds College's ongoing partnership with CEWIL Canada to support Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities for students.

"Canada's future prosperity depends on a skilled, adaptable workforce,” said the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency of Northern Ontario. “and the federal government is investing in more hands-on learning opportunities like the ones offered by Olds College, giving Canadians the skills and experience they need to succeed in today’s economy and prepare for the jobs of tomorrow. Together, we are creating more pathways to rewarding careers, strengthening our workforce, and building a stronger, more resilient Canadian economy.”

Each eligible student may receive up to $1,800 to help cover practicum-related expenses such as fuel, food, and lodging, enabling students to focus more fully on their learning experiences and pursue placements in communities where their skills are most needed.

The successful grant application is administered by our Career Services and Work-Integrated Learning Office.

By continuing to invest in these kinds of practical learning opportunities, Olds College remains committed to helping students thrive and succeed — both in the classroom and in the field.
