Students in the Business Management Diploma program at Olds College of Agriculture & Technology are proud to present the second annual Taste of Olds, an interactive food and beverage expo celebrating local businesses, community connections and student innovation.
The event will take place on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Olds College Alumni Centre. Building on the success of last year’s event — which attracted over 1,000 attendees — this year’s Taste of Olds will feature more than 20 local vendors, including restaurants, bakeries, breweries and artisans, along with live entertainment from local performers.
Taste of Olds is a student-led initiative developed through the Introduction to Project Management course. Students collaborate in teams focusing on marketing, operations, vendor logistics, risk management, guest experience and leadership, applying classroom knowledge in a real-world setting.
“Taste of Olds is more than just an event — it’s an opportunity for students to apply their skills while supporting local businesses and building meaningful community connections,” said Project Manager Kendra Weitz.
Attendees can purchase tickets at the entrance and use them to sample a variety of food and beverages from participating vendors. The event will also include interactive vendor booths and a QR-based voting platform, allowing guests to vote for their favourite vendor experience.
Jennifer Hainsworth, instructor and project lead, emphasizes the importance of experiential learning.
“What makes this event unique is that it is entirely student-led,” said Hainsworth. “It gives our second-year business students the opportunity to engage in real-world learning while supporting the local business community.”
In smaller communities, local businesses often face challenges gaining visibility. Taste of Olds aims to address this by providing a platform for exposure, customer engagement and community involvement. The event is supported by sponsors at various levels, whose contributions help make the experience possible.
“A symphony of flavour and community — a must-attend event,” said Dr. Kurt Spady, reflecting on last year’s success.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend and experience an evening of food, entertainment, and community spirit. For updates and more information, follow Taste of Olds on Instagram (@tasteofolds), visit their Facebook page or contact tasteofolds@oldscollege.ca.
