    Fibre Week 2021

    After the difficult decision to cancel our 2020 Fibre Week, we are excited to officially release our 2021 dates! Mark June 18 - 24, 2021 on your calendars so we can make Fibre Week 2021 the best year yet. 

    Olds College is excited to announce that we are now accepting proposals for workshops to be delivered at Fibre Week 2021.  We invite all fibre experts who are interested in sharing their knowledge to fill out a proposal (or proposals) at the following link:

  • Master Spinner Certificate

    Continuing Education - Master Spinner

    What can you expect from this program/course?

    The Master Spinner Program consists of six progressive levels of classroom and independent study involving skill development, research studies and project assignments in the area of hand spinning of all major types of fibers, yarns and the end use of the spun yarns.  At all levels, students are evaluated on the basis of written assignments, practical projects, oral presentations and skill development.

  • Master Spinner Program: Off Campus Course Offerings

    In order to make the Master Spinner Program more accessible to spinners across Canada and the United States, Olds College offers select offerings of courses off campus. Olds College does not guarantee that students will be able to access all levels of the program at any particular off campus site. At this time Olds College is not accepting new hosts or sites for Off Campus offerings.

    2020 Dates: 

    • Level 1: August 17-21, 2020
    • Level 2: August 24-28, 2020

    2021 Dates:

    • Level 1: April 28 - May 2, 2021
    • Level 1: August 16 - August 20, 2021
    • Level 2: August 23 - August 27, 2021

  • Master Weaver Certificate

    Continuing Education - Master Weaver

    What can you expect from this program/course?

    The Master Weaver Program consists of four progressive levels of classroom and independent study involving skill development, research studies and project assignments. It provides an educational environment in which an individual can acquire the skill to become an independent weaver. Completion of the four levels earns you an Artisan Certificate. For those interested in research, there is a self-directed level 5 study that earns you a Master Weaver certificate.

    In order to make the Master Weaver Program more accessible to spinners across Canada and the United States, Olds College offers select offerings of courses off campus. Olds College does not guarantee that students will be able to access all levels of the program at any particular off campus site.
