The Global Hospitality & Tourism Certificate is specifically designed for international students who want to master the essential business, management and practical skills required to excel in today’s interconnected hospitality sector.

This comprehensive program bridges the gap between theory and real-world global hospitality and tourism industry practices. Through a carefully curated curriculum, you will build a versatile toolkit that prepares you for leadership roles anywhere in the world.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • A high school diploma, or
  • Relevant professional experience in business, hospitality, tourism or a related field

English language proficiency may be required. Applicants without formal credentials may be considered based on relevant work experience.

Students must meet eligibility requirements for all required study and work permits.

Course Details

  • COM 7020 | Workplace Communication

    In this course students develop writing and presentation skills. Students will apply rules of grammar, spelling, punctuation and mechanics in the development of letters, email and short reports as well as other documents relevant to their industry. Students will demonstrate strategies and techniques for creating informative and persuasive presentations.

    MGT 7000 | Principles of Management

    Today's managers perform the functions of planning, organizing, leading and controlling, and must do so within the context and constraints of environmental and social pressure and demands. This course examines the role of the manager, and the skills and techniques needed to effectively and efficiently manage the resources of people, money, materials and time to achieve organizational objectives. Throughout this course, students will be required to demonstrate understanding of the key principles and functions of management, and to apply these skills in contemporary business situations.

    HAT 7038 | Accommodation Management

    Students will assess customer needs and develop procedures and management strategies that result in accommodation service excellence. Students will gain an understanding of all aspects of room division management, and experience and evaluate accommodation facilities, with a focus on the analysis of the services and operations from a guest perspective.

  • COM 7030 | Workplace Professionalism

    This course uses curricular experiential education to provide students with strategies and techniques for successfully targeting and obtaining a workplace experience. Students will acquire skills such as interpersonal and intrapersonal communication, development of career documents, networking, self-reflection and evaluation, ethical decision-making and effective digital media use.

    HAT 7255 | Global, Cultural & Sustainable Tourism

    In this course, students examine current and emerging trends and issues related to eco-tourism and sustainability in the tourism industry. They explore rural and cultural tourism with a focus on agriculture, Indigenous and food tourism, to identify products, services and opportunities in these areas.

    HAT 7170 | Work Experience I

    In this course students have the opportunity to apply, enhance and incorporate academic and/or technical knowledge and competencies acquired in the Global Hospitality and Tourism Certificate of Completion program at an industry-related business or organization. Two hundred and fifty (250) hours of work experience is required and students must complete a series of assignments relating to the marketing and operations of the organization.

  • MKG 7021 | Marketing Principles

    This course develops an understanding of marketing concepts, principles and practices. Topics examined include the influence of environmental factors on the marketing process, strategy development, marketing mix formulation and adjustment for pricing, promoting and distributing appropriate products and services to selected markets.

    HAT 7171 | Work Experience II

    In this course students are provided the opportunity to apply, enhance and incorporate academic or technical knowledge and competencies acquired in the Global Hospitality and Tourism Certificate of Completion program at an industry-related business or organization. Two hundred and fifty (250) hours of work experience is required and students must complete a series of assignments relating to the analysis of management and operations of the organization.
