Start your journey to earning your Class 1 Drivers Licence with personalized, hands-on driver training delivered by King Pin Driving Academy LTD. in collaboration with Olds College. Training is conducted in a commercial certified truck and trailer unit with either an automatic 13 or 18 speed manual transmission. Training and testing are generally completed in approximately four to six weeks.
Delivery: Online and In-Person on campus
Prerequisites:
- A valid Alberta Class 5 (non GDL) licence is required prior to enrolling
- Any conditions listed on your drivers license will remain and carry over to their commercial licence
- A commercial driver's medical exam is required. This can be obtained from most family doctors or medical clinics at a cost between $60 - $200, depending on the doctors office.
- An Air Brakes endorsement is required if students do not already have one
- Students also need to complete a Class 3 Knowledge Test, which can be completed at any Alberta Registry for an additional cost.
All of the requirements listed above need to be completed by the 4th in-cab session during your Tier 2 Core Learning Training. These requirements are not required prior to starting the 40-hours of online training in the Tier 1 Entry Program.
Registration and Learning Expectations
Registration is based on availability and is open enrolment.
Please note: there is a $500.00 non-refundable fee for cancellations after registration.
Within one week of payment, students will receive approximately 60-hours of their training sessions planned out via email, to verify that the suggested timeline works for both parties.
This encompasses approximately four weeks of the Tier 2 Core Learning. The balance of the 67 hours will be scheduled once King Pin Driving Academy LTD. receives a scheduled testing date from the Government of Alberta. This ensures students are adequately trained right up until the day before their exam.
It takes approximately four to six weeks for students to complete the Tier 2 Core Learning Training and obtain their provincial class 1 license.
