Fungicide Evaluation for Disease Management in Cereal, Oilseed and Pulse Crops

This research evaluates fungicide products, rates and application timings for managing key diseases in wheat, canola, peas and lentils under Alberta growing conditions. Field trials assess disease suppression, crop response and yield to identify effective disease management strategies.

Funders/Partners: Vive Crop Protection, Lallemand, and Life Scientific

Project Overview

  • Evaluating fungicide products and application strategies for disease management in wheat, canola, peas and lentils under Alberta growing conditions.
  • Conducting replicated small-plot field trials to assess fungicide efficacy, crop response and disease suppression for tan spot in wheat, sclerotinia rot in canola, Mycosphaerella blight in peas, and Aphanomyces root rot in lentils.
  • Comparing different products, application rates and application timings to identify effective disease management strategies.
  • Monitoring disease development, crop health and yield to evaluate overall treatment performance.

Project Goals

  • Evaluate fungicide efficacy for managing tan spot in wheat, sclerotinia rot in canola, Mycosphaerella blight in peas and Aphanomyces root rot in lentils.
  • Identify effective application rates and timings for improved disease control.
  • Assess the effects of fungicide treatments on crop health, yield and overall performance.
  • Generate independent, Alberta-specific data to support effective and sustainable disease management strategies for pulse production.
