Graduation Assessment

All students will be automatically assessed for graduation upon completion of their program requirements. Please refer to policy D20 - Graduation and Convocation for more information. You can access unofficial transcripts through your My Olds College account under Student Services.

Graduating Student Information

  • Now accepting applications for the honorable title of Valedictorian 2024!

    • Are you eligible to graduate in June 2024?
    • Have you achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0?
    • Do you have great communication skills?
    • Are you passionate about Olds College of Agriculture & Technology and have a positive message to share with this year's graduating class?
    • Do you know of a student peer you would like to nominate?

    Being selected as your class Valedictorian is a great honor and achievement.  The student selected to represent the graduating class of 2024 will receive a $1000 award!

    • Nominate a student peer - Deadline March 15
    • Apply for Valedictorian 2024 - Deadline March 31

  • All students are able to check the status of their program completion in their My Olds College account. Please follow instructions below and e-mail us at if you have any questions.

    • Enter My Olds College

    • Select “Student Services” Tab at the top

    • Select “Student Records”

    • Select “Program Completion Evaluation”

    • Select a Term: Select the Current Term from the drop down menu and select “Submit”

    • Select “Generate New Evaluation”

    • Ensure the “Program” (option) button is selected and “Generate Request”

  • Parchments are issued three times per year, in February, June and October, for students that have fully completed their program requirements. Parchments are sent to students by regular mail to the address on the student record. If necessary please update your mailing address on your My Olds College account.

    • If you completed all program requirements between September 1 and December 31, your parchment will be mailed to you in February.

    • If you completed all program requirements between January 1 and April 30, your parchment will be mailed to you in June.

    • If you completed all program requirements between May 1 and August 31, your parchment will be mailed to you in October.

    If you require proof of graduation prior to the parchment mailing date, then please request an Official Transcript or Program Completion Letter Request Form.

  • Olds College will send an email with all the event and logistics details to ensure you are prepared for your convocation ceremony. As you prepare, a few items that you will be required to complete the day of the event are: 

    1. Pick up your robe, stole and cap
    2. Proceed to event staging area
    3. Get your stole pinned
    4. Pick up your document holder and line up

    Items not to bring

    The following items are not permitted with you during the ceremony:

    • Cell phone
    • Camera
    • Purses, bags and backpacks
    • Corsages
    • Flowers
    • Jackets 
    • Mementos
    • etc.

    There is no secure location to keep your personal items and they are not permitted in the ceremony location. Items left unattended are not the responsibility of Olds College.

  • Ceremony length

    The ceremony will take place in the Ralph Klein Centre and lasts approximately two hours. Graduates must stay for the entire ceremony and are not permitted to leave early. 

    Crossing the Stage

    When it is your turn to step forward and cross the stage you will hand over your reader card so your name can be read aloud. As you cross the stage, you will be recorded for the livestream. 

    You will be photographed during this part of the ceremony. 

    After the Ceremony

    Following the ceremony, return your gown and stole at the drop off location. Graduates who do not return their regalia by 5 p.m. will be charged a fee to replace the gown and stole.

    Graduates may keep their grad caps.

Professional Stage Crossing Photos

As students cross the stage, a professional photographer will take their photo to commemorate their accomplishment.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Please direct any questions to the SAOC (Students’ Association of Olds College).

  • Please ensure you leave your phone, suit jackets (you will get too hot), purses, wallets, and informal hats with your friends or family members. You can also leave these items in the quad room (please note, this room is not secured, Olds College is not responsible for any lost items). Water stations will be available. Please make sure you use a restroom before the event begins.

  • Honour cords are only handed out to students who have completed all the requirements to graduate by April 30. If you have any outstanding grades or have recently completed your program, then you will not be receiving an honour cord at Convocation.

  • Official parchments will not be presented at the Convocation Ceremony. Instead, students who have met graduation requirements will receive parchments by mail. Please ensure your mailing address is correct within your My Olds College account.

  • Every student participating in the Convocation Ceremony will receive a traditional graduation cap to wear during the ceremony and keep as a souvenir of your accomplishment (keep this in mind when considering hairstyles). The tassel should remain on the right for the duration of the ceremony.

  • Yes, there is a professional photographer at the Convocation Ceremony and details will be shared with attendees when they become available.

  • Yes, the event will be livestreamed with the recording being posted for viewing afterwards.

  • You do not need to RSVP for guests. Seating for family and guests is first-come, first-served. Students will be contacted prior to Convocation with more specific details.

  • Yes, there will be Indigenous celebrations at Convocation. Details will be shared with attendees when they become available.

  • Yes, in the foyer of the Ralph Klein Centre, a vendor will be selling convocation flowers. The Olds College Campus Store will have Olds College merchandise and swag for sale.
