Thanks to Rocky Mountain Equipment (RME) for a generous loan on equipment, Olds College of Agriculture & Technology is excited to welcome three new pieces of heavy equipment to campus.
The Case Compact Dozer Loader (521G), Case Backhoe Loader (580SV) and Case Excavator- Midi (CX140E) will allow students in the Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate program the opportunity to operate additional pieces of equipment and expand their seat-time experience. Additionally, the Heavy Equipment Technician Apprenticeship and Agricultural & Heavy Equipment Certificate and Diploma programs can utilize the loaned machinery as additional equipment to work on and learn from.
“We are incredibly grateful for this loan of equipment from Rocky Mountain Equipment,” expresses Debbie Bailey, Senior Manager of Continuing Education and Corporate Training at Olds College. “The three new heavy equipment machines will allow our students in the Heavy Equipment programs more advanced hands-on learning and experience that will elevate their education and future industry work.”
RME has been partnering with Olds College in varying capacities for over ten years, including the annual Ken Wood Memorial Scholarship Award which is given to an Olds College student in trades.
“RME’s and Olds College’s views align with the preservation of rural roots and the strong commitment to agriculture that the College instills in its students through programs like the Agricultural and Heavy Equipment Diploma Program,” says Jim Wood, Chief Sales and Operations Officer at RME. “Our hope is to not only drive future employment within RME’s branches, but the entire ag industry.”
