Community Compassion for Campus Health

September 09, 2025

Starting in 2024, Olds College of Agriculture & Technology was proud to introduce the award of Community Partner of the Year, in complement to the Corporate Partner of the Year. This award seeks to recognize members of the greater community who have had a profound impact on the College.

Announced at Strive & Thrive, an annual welcome back to campus event for faculty and staff, this year held on Aug. 26, Wildrose Medical Centre was named this year’s recipient. Accepting the award on behalf of Wildrose was Dr. Gert Nel, a long-time practitioner of the clinic and supporter of the integrated work between Olds College Health & Wellness and Wildrose.

For the past 15 years, Wildrose has worked with the College to provide on-campus health care options to students and staff. When asked about the impact that Wildrose has had, Rayann Conrad,  RN, Olds College Health & Wellness, emphasized how integral the clinic’s involvement and services are to the campus community. “Our students are able to access the College’s care, as well as the doctor’s care, without having to navigate the healthcare system on their own,” Conrad stated.

Making weekly trips to the on-campus clinic, the doctors of Wildrose provide clinical counselling, care, doctors' notes, referrals and more, removing the barrier of finding a new doctor that many students face when attending college.

“The Wildrose Medical Clinic has been a partner of ours for many years,” says Peter Mal, Vice President, Student Experience. “They go above and beyond to support our students.” This partnership has been extremely impactful and successful over the past decade and a half, and one that Wildrose Medical and the College are pleased to continue well into the future.
