The Alberta Standardbred Horsemen’s Association recently held their annual yearling sale at Century Mile Racetrack and Casino. This year, 92 yearlings were listed for sale. Of the 92 yearlings, 35 were the result of dams bred at the Olds College Equine Centre as part of our Equine Reproduction Technician program.
The top two sellers at the sale were both conceived through the College’s program – Forbearance sold for $137,000 and Sloppydoubleclutch sold for $66,500.
Both yearlings were sired by Custard the Dragon, the top stallion in Western Canada, who has stood for breeding at our facility for the past nine years.
We are proud that our program not only provides a premier learning experience for students but also has a meaningful impact on the Standardbred breeding and racing industry in Western Canada.
