Jaskarndeep Singh is a Research Assistant with the crops and environment research at Olds College Centre for Innovation (OCCI). He developed a strong interest in agriculture and environmental research through his early experiences on farms, which inspired him to pursue a career in sustainable crop science.
Jaskarndeep holds a Bachelor of Science in Botany, Zoology and Computer Applications from Maharaja Ganga Singh University, and post-graduate diplomas in Environmental Studies and Hospitality & Tourism Management from Olds College of Agriculture & Technology. He completed the Hospitality program to further strengthen his understanding of organizational behaviour, leadership and teamwork.
At Olds College, he supports field and greenhouse trials focused on crop sustainability, soil and water quality, and ecosystem restoration. Before joining OCCI, Jaskarndeep worked with the Chinook Applied Research Association in Oyen, Alberta, supporting soil health and agricultural research projects, and gained over five years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining agronomic and research equipment through his work with Sidhu Farms and CARA.
Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, travelling, and exploring Canada’s agricultural landscapes. Passionate about lifelong learning, Jaskarndeep is dedicated to advancing sustainable agriculture and environmental research.
