Juan Ramos is a Chilean-trained Agronomist Engineer with a specialization in Fruit Production and a passion for precision agriculture technologies. With over 15 years of experience including agronomy, education, research, and agricultural technology, Juan brings a unique blend of hands-on field expertise, academic excellence, and technological innovation to every role he undertakes.
In 2021, he decided to come to Olds College where he studied two programs, Precision Agriculture Technology and Agricultural Technology Integration, deepening his knowledge in the use of applied technology to improve efficiency in agricultural production.
Currently serving as an Instructional Assistant and Research Technician at Olds College of Agriculture Technology, Juan supports both faculty and students in cutting-edge research projects, focusing on field scouting, data collection, and the application of advanced agronomic practices. He is also a specialist in the operation of agricultural weather stations, ensuring precise environmental monitoring to support research accuracy. His technical proficiency includes the use of GIS tools, variable rate technology, and agricultural data management systems such as QGIS and SMS Ag Leader.
Previously, Juan’s career in Chile featured impactful roles as a professor at prestigious institutions like Universidad del Pacífico and Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana, where he was recognized for academic excellence and leadership in agronomy education.
Juan holds an MBA and a Diploma in University Teaching, complementing his engineering degree with business knowledge and pedagogical expertise.
Juan values respect, responsibility, and integrity in his professional conduct. Outside of work, he enjoys motoring, gokart, ornithology, and puzzle-solving, reflecting his curiosity and problem-solving mindset.
