Olds College and Olds High School staff and students raised the pride flags on campus to celebrate inclusivity and to kick off Pride Month 2021.
“We’ve been working really hard at bringing more equity, diversity and inclusion to Olds College. We want to be a school that’s welcoming, safe and a great place for people to work, live and play.” comments Trina Radcliffe, Manager, Broncos Athletics.
The Olds College Gay-Sraight Alliance (OCGSA), composed of faculty, staff, students, and guests from Olds High School, has several events planned for the year, including the installation of pride themed flower boxes and crosswalk. “As more and more people stand up [and support the LGBTQ community], the quieter hate gets,” comments China Cheneise Couture, student, Olds College.
“The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion committee is an important initiative focused on addressing issues and how this institution can continue to become a more inclusive campus. We’re really excited about the EDI committee, they are leaders on our campus and they’re doing great work.” comments Stuart Cullum, President, Olds College.
Students who wish to be involved with OCGSA can contact the Olds College Student Association. Any staff or faculty who would like to learn more about the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion committee can contact Trina Radcliffe.
