Olds College to Host Alberta Premiere of Documentary "Common Ground"

November 08, 2023

Olds College of Agriculture & Technology, in partnership with Regener8ve Ag, is honored to host the Alberta premiere of "Common Ground," a powerful and groundbreaking documentary showcasing the regenerative agriculture movement. The event will take place on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Alumni Centre on the Olds College campus in Olds, Alberta.

Attendees of the premier can also look forward to networking, a panel discussion featuring industry experts on soil health and sustainable farming, a lunch, and a unique "Meet The Farmer" session where they can connect with local farmers who prioritize soil health and nutrient density in their food production.

"The event aims to address the needs of the Western Canadian market by fostering dialogue on functional soil health, farm profitability, and nutrient density of food,” said Jason Bradley, President, Regener8ve Ag and event organizer. “It brings together the agricultural community and the agri-food value web to emphasize the significance of soil health. Additionally, it responds to the request from Alberta's largest agriculture college to introduce students to regenerative agricultural practices not covered in the curriculum.”

The documentary "Common Ground" sheds light on the efforts to create healthier food and farms through compelling stories from farmers and allies. This sequel to the influential documentary "Kiss the Ground" showcases a hopeful movement of diverse farmers using alternative "regenerative" models to tackle climate change, improve health, and stabilize the economy.

"This event demonstrates Olds College's dedication to advancing agricultural education and sustainability," said Todd Ormann, Vice President, Development, Olds College. "By bringing together farmers, ranchers, academics, and industry professionals, we aim to inspire change and promote soil health. This event represents our commitment to creating a safe and sustainable future for agriculture."

Those interested in attending the event can purchase their tickets on the official event website. Additionally, the trailer for the documentary "Common Ground" can be viewed here. For more information and ticket purchases, visit eventbrite.
