Olds College Centre for Innovation (OCCI) is partnering with North Star Systems to evaluate its bin inventory equipment. North Star Systems is developing a cost-effective solution for measuring inventory levels in grain bins by leveraging their hardware and user platform. The Smart Ag research team will conduct accuracy testing of the product using grain bins at the Olds College Smart Farm.

In 2024, Olds College Centre for Innovation collaborated with North Star Systems to test a radar device designed to measure large inventories of bulk dry products in grain bins. The testing at the Olds College Smart Farm generated high-quality datasets that helped validate the device's accuracy and assess its real-world performance.
