The research and engagement process at Olds College involves several interconnected steps that involves gathering and analyzing data to understand the needs, preferences, and behavior of current and prospective students, alumni and industry, and other stakeholders.
Where we use research & engagement data:
- Program development
- Supporting program reviews (i.e. Comprehensive Program Reviews & Formative Reviews)
- Process enhancement projects
- Major operational and capital projects
Research and Engagement Process:
Planning - Define Research & Objectives
- What is our purpose? What questions are we looking to answer? What time frame are we working with?
Design Research
- Where do we need to explore to answer our identified questions? Who do we need to engage? (primary vs. secondary research; quantitative vs. qualitative research; identifying specific stakeholders and the best means of connecting with them; where are we accessing key environmental scanning and labour market research? Are we conducting a competitor analysis?)
Collect Data
- Engagement with key stakeholders (industry, students, faculty/staff, partners, etc.) via surveys, focus groups, interviews, etc.
Process & Analyze Data
- Data processing and formulation of main research findings.
Report & Present Findings
- Customize results to the main audience, provide recommendations.
