Add a Course

To add a course, please complete the Add/Drop form.

  • A course may be added up to and including 6% through the course. The add date is specific to each course based on the course dates.
  • Adding a course will result in additional fees.

Drop a Course

To add a course, please complete the Add/Drop form. The drop date is specific to each course based on the course dates.

For classes that started on or after July 1, 2024, the following deadlines apply (per B12 Procedure):

  • A course dropped up to and including 12% through the course will not be recorded on the student transcript, will not impact the Grade Point Average (GPA), and will result in a refund. (international students reference Registration, Payments & Refunds).
  • A course dropped 13 to 75% through the course will be recorded on the student transcript with a grade of 'W', will not impact the Grade Point Average (GPA), and will result in no refund.
  • A course dropped after 76% through the course will be recorded on the student transcript with a grade of 'F', will impact the Grade Point Average (GPA), and will result in no refund.
  • Dropping a course may impact the funding of a government student loan or alternate funding. The Student Advisor, Financial Aid is available to discuss the impacts consequences of this action and any follow up requirements that may be necessary.

  • Dropping a course may impact the funding of a government student loan or alternate funding. The Student Advisor, Financial Aid is available to discuss the impacts consequences of this action and any follow up requirements that may be necessary.

Withdraw From College

To withdraw from Olds College complete the online Withdrawal Form. It is recommended to discuss the decision to withdraw with your Associate Dean before submitting the form. If the withdrawal is completed while courses are in progress, the academic and financial impacts are noted above in the Drop a Course section.

Please note:

  • If you are admitted to a program that has not yet started, then please contact your Admission Officer to cancel your admission.
  • If you are an apprentice, then please contact apprentice@oldscollege.ca to cancel your technical training enrolment.

Student Funding Impact

Dropping a course, or withdrawing may impact your funding. It is important to check in with the Student Advisor, Financial Aid prior to your decision to ensure you understand the consequences of this action and any follow up requirements that may be necessary.

Impacts of Dropping a Course or Withdrawing from Olds College

  • Full-Time Funded Students

    If you drop below the minimum full-time requirements, your funding will be cancelled and you will enter your 6 month grace period. Your original funding decision will be reassessed, which could result in the conversion of grant funds to loan dollars. If you drop below the minimum full-time requirements but still remain a part-time student, contact the Student Advisor, Financial Aid to discuss part-time funding options and interest-free status. If you withdraw from college, your withdrawal may impact your ability to access future funding.

    Part-Time Funded Students

    If you withdraw from college, your funding will be cancelled and future funding may be impacted. Your withdrawal date will initiate your 6 month interest-building grace period on all current and previous Part-Time Canada Student Loans.

  • Student Aid Alberta Loans & Grants

    If you withdraw from your full-time apprenticeship program, your Student Aid Alberta funding will be cancelled and you will enter your grace period. Your original funding decision will be reassessed, which could result in the conversion of grant funds to loan dollars. Your withdrawal may impact your ability to access future funding.

  • Full-Time Funded Students

    If you withdraw from your pre-employment program, your Student Aid Alberta funding will be cancelled and you will enter your 6 month grace period. Your original funding decision will be reassessed, which could result in the conversion of grant funds to loan dollars. Your withdrawal may impact your ability to access future funding.
