Cannabis Production Program - Level 1
This program prepares graduates for employment in the growing cannabis production industry, or to support those already in the workplace. This program provides entry level job-based training and is committed to providing graduates the skills needed to enter into employment with a range of cannabis producers, from medicinal to adult use. Students can expect to spend eight weeks in each of the intensive online courses followed by an optional four-week blended course which includes a one-week field study. This optional field study will include spending time with one of our partners and supported by an online experience.
- Four online, instructor led, 45 hour equivalent courses

Costs: $799 + GST per course (4 courses), $499 + GST for the Field Study
Extraction and Purification for the Cannabis/Hemp Industry
Students will learn about the processes involved for the extraction of cannabis oil and the process required to produce different qualities of refined and purified oil from cannabis and industrial hemp. This includes processes for industrial drying, milling and different extraction technologies with a focus on supercritical CO2 extraction, technologies for fractionation and purification. The students will also learn basic physicochemical principles governing the extraction and purification processes for a clear understanding of the process sequence and the selection of the technology for extraction. At the end of the course, the students will be able to identify the main steps to produce cannabis oils at different concentrations and identify the main principles operating each of the processes.

Prerequisite: Understanding of the chemistry of cannabis, the main components present in the plant and their basic properties.

The Prairie Horticulture Certificate program is the online program in horticulture designed specifically for the prairie provinces and is offered through the Continuing Education department. Choose one of four streams of focus and once you have completed all of the courses in your selected stream you will be granted a Prairie Horticulture Certificate from Olds College. It is jointly offered by a consortium of three Western Canadian institutions:- Olds College

- University of Saskatchewan

Turf Science Certificate
What can you expect from this program/course?
This certificate addresses general and specialized aspects of the science, current cultural systems and construction practices for the turf industry. Courses provide practical applications relevant to parks, sports turf, golf course, professional lawn care, sod production and turf-related sales/service sectors.
